Denture After Care Service
We believe that the aftercare of your new denture is as important as the construction process. A well-made denture only works if it continues to fit well, feel comfortable, and function properly over time — and that’s what 365 CARE is designed to deliver.
Why Aftercare Matters
Your mouth is a dynamic environment. Gums shrink and change shape after tooth loss, the bone underneath gradually remodels, and your bite settles as you adapt to wearing a new denture. Without proper follow-up, small changes can turn into sore spots, loose-fitting dentures, difficulty eating, or accelerated bone loss.
Regular follow-up appointments let us catch these changes early, adjust your dentures to match, and keep you comfortable long-term.
What 365 CARE includes
For immediate dentures (full or partial)
Immediate dentures are fitted the same day as your extractions, which means your gums are still healing when you first wear them. As they heal, they change shape — sometimes significantly — so we deliver immediate dentures as a package, with scheduled relining and refitting appointments built in.
Your 365 CARE plan for immediate dentures includes:
– A comprehensive follow-up schedule for the first 6–12 months
– Relining appointments to match your healing gums
– Refitting as your bite settles
– Ongoing adjustments for comfort and fit
– Direct access to our team whenever you need advice
For replacement dentures
If your gums have already healed from previous tooth loss, replacement dentures need less intensive aftercare. The initial price includes follow-up appointments and any adjustments you need — we’re here whenever something doesn’t feel right.
No cost for adjustments — ever
There are no charges for adjustments at Denture South. New dentures almost always need fine-tuning as your mouth adapts, and we’d rather see you in the clinic than have you living with discomfort. Whether it’s a sore spot, a loose fit, or just something that doesn’t feel right, get in touch and we’ll book you in.

Frequently Asked Questions
365 CARE is our comprehensive follow-up programme for every patient who receives new dentures at our Christchurch clinic. It includes all scheduled relining and refitting appointments (especially important with immediate dentures), ongoing adjustments as your mouth settles, and direct access to our team for any concerns. There are no extra charges for adjustments — aftercare is built into the price of your dentures.
Yes. Adjustments are included in the price of your dentures — we don’t charge for them at any point. New dentures almost always need fine-tuning as your gums and bite settle, and we’d rather you come in as often as needed than live with discomfort. Just get in touch and we’ll book you in.
Immediate dentures (fitted straight after tooth extraction) need more intensive aftercare because your gums change shape significantly as they heal. We deliver these as a package with scheduled relining and refitting appointments built in. Replacement dentures — made for patients whose gums have already healed — need less frequent follow-up, but we’re still here whenever you need an adjustment.
It depends on the type of denture. Immediate dentures typically need several follow-ups in the first 6–12 months for relining and refitting as your gums heal and shrink. Replacement dentures usually need fewer visits. Either way, we schedule these upfront so you know what to expect, and any additional adjustments are included at no extra cost.
We check the fit, comfort, and bite of your dentures, look for any pressure points causing sore spots, and make adjustments as needed. For immediate dentures, we may reline the base to match your healing gums. These visits are usually quick — often 15 to 30 minutes — and they’re essential for keeping your dentures comfortable and functional long-term.
Get in touch with us. Some initial discomfort is normal as your mouth adapts, but persistent pain, sore spots, or looseness means your dentures need adjustment. Don’t try to adjust them yourself — call us on +64 3 332 4004 or book online. Adjustments are included in your original price, so there’s no reason to put up with an uncomfortable fit.
Most people adapt to new dentures within four to six weeks, though it can take longer with immediate dentures because your gums are still healing. Eating, speaking, and the sensation of having dentures in your mouth all take time to feel natural. Regular follow-up appointments through our 365 CARE programme help smooth that transition.
Most dentures need relining at some point, as the gums and bone underneath gradually change shape over time. Immediate dentures usually need relining within the first 6 to 12 months. Replacement dentures typically need relining every few years. At Denture South, relining appointments for immediate dentures are included in your aftercare package.
Dentures sit on soft tissue that changes shape over time — especially in the first year after tooth loss. Without follow-ups, small fit issues can lead to sore spots, loose dentures, difficulty eating, or bone loss underneath. Regular check-ins let us catch and fix problems early, keeping your dentures comfortable and protecting your long-term oral health.
